Juicy Lucy looked about - she couldn’t decide which hat to wear to go out. She opened up her cupboard drawer - and came across a hat that was easy to adore ! It fit not really that well at all … but she didn’t care, because she had to get to Old Hall. When she was on the bus, Juicy Lucy looked ludicrous, but she thought her hat was lustrously luxurious ! Juicy Lucy loosened the ribbon on her hat. It was hot and sunny and it tickled her blonde, long plait. Luckily, Lucy had some luggage to spare - in it she found a hat to wear. The bus ride was bumpy - the potholes made Lucy jumpy. Juicy Lucy looked under the chair - there were lots of bags, but no hat anywhere. They’d been thrown away with tickets everywhere - but none of the things belonged to Lucy. A scarf, a coat and an umbrella, too, Lucy looked under them - there was no hat, old or new. Because the road wasn’t all that flat, Juicy Lucy lost her hat. She wondered if she’d ever get it back - she should have known better than to wear a hat so slack. It wasn’t on the luggage rack ! Under the escalator stair, by the engine or on the track. Nor in the lost and found - perhaps she’d left it on the undergorund ! Lucy Lou asked the bus conductor if he knew, “What colour is it ? ” (it was blue). “Oh ! dear, Lucy, Lou - now what on Earth shall we do ? !”. Juicy Lucy looked again - but she still couldn’t find her hat - “Oh ! What a pain !”. When the bus stopped, off Lucy hopped. Whilst the bus driver parked, Lucy quickly disembarked. Once Juicy Lucy had had a bite to eat, she headed off down the street - straight to a hat shop - she wanted to replace the hat that she’d dropped (remembering to pick one that didn’t quite so much flop like her lost hat she lost when the bus stopped). Juicy Lucy tried them on - there were all different kinds of caps. Bonnets and bowlers, woollen and even one with flaps. Lucy looked over her shoulder, she hoped she’d find a hat to fit, before she got much older and probably would sit on it ! As Juicy Lucy tried them on for size, one was so big, it covered her eyes. Juicy Lucy’s ears were cold - so she picked a hat that unfold. When Juicy Lucy looked in the mirror, the passers - by gazed - “However did Juicy Lucy find such a lovely hat ?”, they were truly amazed.
