4. There was a tunnel, measuring 1000 km, underneath Count Dracu - Number’s castle that lead from the centre of the castle. If the round castle had a radius of 300 m, how much further did the tunnel go outside the battlements ?

5. A cannonball fired a hole in the wall of Count Dracu - Number’s castle, 8 cm wide - work out how big in square metres the hole was using the formula 2 ii r .

6. One hundred and fifty soldiers fired arrows from the battlements but only 0.25 of them shot in the right the direction - how many missed ?

7. Along the battlements of Count Dracu - Number’s castle were 5 flags but 20% were torn - of all Count Dracu - Number’s flags, how many is that ?

8. Count Dracu - Number went to count his 400 guards to see if they were all present and correct, but 0.4 were missing - how many soldiers, therefore, were out to lunch and how many were at their posts ?

9. Each of the 240 guards had shields (red, yellow, blue and green) in a ratio of 1 : 2 : 4 : 8. How many more green shields were there than yellow ?

10. Count Dracu - Number’s castle hd a moat in which 70 ducks were swimming … but 7% flew away - how many does that leave ? To answer this question, you need to round off the divisor to the nearest whole number.

11. Count Dracu - Number’s number was UP ! Up the flagpole, in fact. If the flagpole was 40 m high, and Count Dracu Number was 5 % of this height, how tall was he ?

12. Count Dracu Number’s castle took 2 years to build … it increased at a rate of three rows of bricks per day. If each brick measured 25 cm wide, how high was it ?

13. Count Dracu Number wanted to paint his castle. It took 3 litres of paint to cover 5 square metres, so how much paint was required for a wall measuring 150 m wide x 100 m long ?

14. Count Dracu Number made a fire in his lounge … with 6 logs. The fire burned for 5 hours. If he wanted to heat his castle constantly for three weeks, how many logs did he need ? Write an algebraic equation to help you solve this maths problem.

Count Dracu Number thought he’d got away from Maths, but he found some even on the garden path …
Even as he washed his clothes,
He counted his socks (as well as their holes !).
He counted his shirts, and the buttons that popped,
His maths class was over, but his homework never stopped !
On the washing line, Count Dracu Number counted the pegs,
I even saw him counting the ironing on the ironing board (as well as the ironing board legs !)
There was maths spinning in his washing machine, too,
As Count Dracu Number Number switched up the speed to one hundred and twenty - two.
The bubbles from all the foam soon multiplied,
As Count Dracu Number’s washing was hung out and dried.
Wishy washy washing day suds, spilled down the garden path and over the rosebuds.
In Count Dracu Number’s counter - sink, the taps were soon on the blink.
He called a fix - it man, who came straight away to mend,
Count - Dracu Number’s u - bend, whilst he was calling on his friend.
Water splashed in a puddle on the floor … Count Dracu Number slipped and skidded towards the door !
Of course, being a vampire, Count Dracu - Number would much rather be …
