Count Dracu’s “Ya’ Number’s Up !” Game

casp458r.jpg

Count Dracu’s number seven was rather sick,

He’d fallen and hurt his knee when he was performing a trick !

Number three wasn’t as well as could be,

So number four wished him a speedy recovery.

Number five was just about alive …

And number eight was so ill he was late.

Number nine only just about arrived,

Number ten hoped he’d soon be on the mend.

Count Dracu - Number’s Alge - Brick Castle

dracu.jpg

Count Dracu - Number’s castle stood on the top of a hill …
With flowers growing on all the battlements,
So Count Dracu could count them at will.
Count Dracu loved his castle, he counted everything in it all day …
He even counted the birds that landed on the roof …
And counted them again as they flew away.
Count Dracu - Number also counted the ghosts that lived there,
He counted them as they haunted the stairs …
Then he counted the poltergeists as they knocked over the chairs.
Count Dracu - Number counted the flags, he counted the guards and he counted their bags
In order to help him with his algebra, Count Dracu added window bars …
Now whenever he looked outside, he had a ready made ruler and a set square slide.

Write an algebraic equation to solve the following maths problems.

brick6.jpg1. Along the battlements of Count Dracu - Number’s castle roof, there were 75 cannons, 20 metres apart - how long therefore were the battlements ?

brick6.jpg2. On the stairs, there was a candleabra that had 60 candles, but 20% had blown out … how many candles therefore were lit ?

brick6.jpg3. Count Dracu - Number’s drawbridge opened and closed 7 times in two hours - how many times therefore, did the drawbridge open in one week ?

brick6.jpg4. There was a tunnel, measuring 1000 km, underneath Count Dracu - Number’s castle that lead from the centre of the castle. If the round castle had a radius of 300 m, how much further did the tunnel go outside the battlements ?

brick6.jpg5. A cannonball fired a hole in the wall of Count Dracu - Number’s castle, 8 cm wide - work out how big in square metres the hole was using the formula 2 ii r .

brick6.jpg6. One hundred and fifty soldiers fired arrows from the battlements but only 0.25 of them shot in the right the direction - how many missed ?

brick6.jpg7. Along the battlements of Count Dracu - Number’s castle were 5 flags but 20% were torn - of all Count Dracu - Number’s flags, how many is that ?

brick6.jpg8. Count Dracu - Number went to count his 400 guards to see if they were all present and correct, but 0.4 were missing - how many soldiers, therefore, were out to lunch and how many were at their posts ?

brick6.jpg9. Each of the 240 guards had shields (red, yellow, blue and green) in a ratio of 1 : 2 : 4 : 8. How many more green shields were there than yellow ?

brick6.jpg10. Count Dracu - Number’s castle hd a moat in which 70 ducks were swimming … but 7% flew away - how many does that leave ? To answer this question, you need to round off the divisor to the nearest whole number.

brick6.jpg11. Count Dracu - Number’s number was UP ! Up the flagpole, in fact. If the flagpole was 40 m high, and Count Dracu Number was 5 % of this height, how tall was he ?

brick6.jpg12. Count Dracu Number’s castle took 2 years to build … it increased at a rate of three rows of bricks per day. If each brick measured 25 cm wide, how high was it ?

brick6.jpg13. Count Dracu Number wanted to paint his castle. It took 3 litres of paint to cover 5 square metres, so how much paint was required for a wall measuring 150 m wide x 100 m long ?

2. 60 - (60 / 100 x 20 = 12) = 48
3. 7 x 24 / 2 = 84
4. 1000 - 300 = 700 m
5. 2 x 3.14 x 4 = 25.12 square cm
6. 150 - (150 / 4 = 37.5) = 112.5
7. 5 / 100 x 20 = 1
8. 400 - (400 / 10 x 4 = 160) = 240
9. One part = 240 / 15 = 16, therefore, red, yellow, blue, green, 16 : 32 : 64 : 128
10. 70 - (70 / 100 x 7 = 4.9 = 5) = 65
11. 40 / 100 x 5 = 2 m

13. 150 x 100 = 15 , 000 / 5 x 3 = 9000 litres
14. Step 1 - if y = log requirement, then, using the formula = time x logs = y = (24 x 7 x 3 / 5) x 6 = 604.8
15. 500 / 10 = 50
16. Step 1 - if y = number of chairs, then, 19.99 + (9.99y) = 149.86; Step 2 - y = 149.86 - 19.99 / 9.99 = 13
17. Step 1 - if y = number of hatstands, then, 20y = 400 x 7 Step 2 - y = 2 800 / 20 = 140

Wishy Washy Washing Day in Count - Dracu’s Castle

wash.jpg

Count Dracu Number thought he’d got away from Maths, but he found some even on the garden path …
Even as he washed his clothes,
He counted his socks (as well as their holes !).
He counted his shirts, and the buttons that popped,
His maths class was over, but his homework never stopped !
On the washing line, Count Dracu Number counted the pegs,
I even saw him counting the ironing on the ironing board (as well as the ironing board legs !)
There was maths spinning in his washing machine, too,
As Count Dracu Number Number switched up the speed to one hundred and twenty - two.
The bubbles from all the foam soon multiplied,
As Count Dracu Number’s washing was hung out and dried.
Wishy washy washing day suds, spilled down the garden path and over the rosebuds.
In Count Dracu Number’s counter - sink, the taps were soon on the blink.
He called a fix - it man, who came straight away to mend,
Count - Dracu Number’s u - bend, whilst he was calling on his friend.
Water splashed in a puddle on the floor … Count Dracu Number slipped and skidded towards the door !
Of course, being a vampire, Count Dracu - Number would much rather be …
Spending his days eating steak not washing and ironing - because he’d been up since three !

Count Dracu Politician and the Vote Re - Count

dracu2.jpg

Count Dracu Politician loved to count …
The more votes he had to count the better !
In fact he created a law on the matter,
And wrote to the Queen about it in a letter.
He counted his voters … there weren’t nearly enough …
So he went out promising them
All kinds of incredible stuff.

dracu2.jpg

The Bigger And Better Politician Maths Quiz

The other MP’s discussed the environment for 15 minutes, foreign policy for 25 minutes, home issues for 35 minutes and the remainder of the time they discussed the economy - how long for ? What fraction of the time did they discuss environment ? What decimal of the time did they discuss the economy ? What percentage is this ?

Count Dracu Politician’s Best Ever Reshuffle

The politician must have had ants in his pants. Whenever he came to work, the Prime Minister started to rant. Very soon, he was wriggling about - his pockets jangled as hes started to shout. No wonder the press called for a cabinet reshuffle ! Some of the minsters started to snuffle. You’d never seen such a dance, as the Downing Street re - shuffle and the Whitehall prance. With MP’s dancing down the stairs in pairs, the foxtrot and the quickstep as well. Soon everyone was dancing (and not all that swell). In fact, one of the ministers even fell ! Reshuffle the anagram letters into the right order to spell them correctly again. Can you guess what these words taken from the poem above should be ?

dracu1.jpg The 8 That Got Ate

There were eight cakes upon a plate,
there should have been nine, but one got ate.
The seventh cake tasted really great,
but now there are only crumbs, of late.
I can’t remember what happened to number six,
Perhaps that’s the one that the cat came to lick ?
Number five tasted best of all,
It was covered in sugar and stuck to the wall !
I meant to stop eating at cake number four,
But when I saw it, I just wanted more.
Number three cake fell onto the floor,
The last I saw of it, was with the dog
(going through the door).
Number two I gave to a friend,
(who asked me if I had one to lend).
The only cake left now, is cake number one,
Just one bite … and now it’s gone.

Count Dracu Actor was practising his lines,
He wanted the play to be just right …
He even ironed his outfit
For the premier being shown that night.
Outside, the audience had started to arrive,
The billboard had said for weeks,
That there was going to be a great performance shown live.
As Count Dracu put on his make - up
His last minutes nerves made him jitter …
