Cupid’s Stupid Arrow

bow-and-arrow.jpg

Cupid had an arrow,
That didn’t know left from right …
Everytime that Cupid shot it,
It flew right out of sight.

Cupid’s arrow was hopeless,
With no sense of direction at all,
Whenever Cupid tried to shoot it into the air,
It crashed straight into a wall.

Cupid’s arrow had no map -
No wonder Cupid was a confused little chap !
Although he started shooting arrows as soon as he awoke,
Most of them fell flat on the floor - and very often broke !

bow-and-arrow.jpg1. If Cupid fired 600 arrows and only 15% of them hit a heart - how many is that ?

bow-and-arrow.jpg2. Cupid romantically bought a box of 200 chocolates, but he ate 0.7 of them himself - how many were left ?

bow-and-arrow.jpg3. Cupid bought 12 red roses, £0.99 each - how much change did he receive from £20.00 ?

bow-and-arrow.jpg4. Cupid sent a whole load of Valentine’s Day Cards costing £1.25 with a £0.25 stamp each. If he spent £27.00 in total, how many cards did he send ?

bow-and-arrow.jpg5. Cupid bought a diamond ring that should have cost £1299 but had a discount in the sale - if he paid £1234.05, what percentage was the sale reduction ?

bow-and-arrow.jpg6. Cupid was asked by 200 girls to marry him - he said “yes” to only one - what fraction, decimal and percentage is this ?

My Broken Heart

ca0f04ei.jpg

I don’t know how my heart got broken - smashed to smithereens. Chipped and scuffed. It started off all smooth and round - full of blood and pumping life. But over the years, my heart got broken into tiny bits and pieces. It was ripped to shreds and soon became tattered and torn. My broken heart was splintered and shattered … crashed and cracked. Poor ol’ broken heart of mine … snapped in two … my broken heart must have been trodden on … or torn into tiny pieces … No amount of glue or stitching could put the broken heart back together again. I tried folding it and wrapping it up in a parcel … that didn’t work either. My broken heart was like a jigsaw puzzle … in tiny little pieces. My broken heart was in so many pieces that even tying them up with string did not work much at all. My broken heart was still quite broken.

Having A Change Of Heart

kids.jpg

If you were to have a change of heart - what would you change it into ? Your heart may be transplanted into a hand - perhaps - then you could point from the middle of your chest. If you changed your heart into a foot - you could tap dance inside your clothes - but it may leave footprints all over you, of course. If you stood on your head, and did handstands, your heart might end up in your mouth. Spin around and your back becomes your front … bend over and your shoulders become your knees. You may change your heart into a clock (it would still tick inside you like a bomb ready to explode) or a compact disc player (so you could play music through your belly button). You could change your heart into a ball (it may help you roll over) or a hydrogen balloon (but you may take off into outer space). If you were to have a change of heart - it would be like changing your mind … you would come up with different ideas sprung from you imagination. Having a change of heart would be like switching the light (on and off again) - you would end up completely in the dark. You may wish to change the colour of your heart (from red to blue or green, perhaps) or the shape (into a square or circle).

The Matrimonial Frog

toad-2.jpg

“Will you marry me ?” asked the Frog to the Duchess Lizard basking in the mud at the side of the pond on a stone rock. “Only if you get me a gold ring” she replied. So off the frog set in search of something suitably rich and luxurious for the love of his life. He mooched around the pond weed and dug deep until he finally came up with a real gem - a golden nugget that the woodpecker helped him craft into a golden ring to adorn the slippery, spindly fingers of his bride to be. As he presented it to her, he asked,

“Will you marry me ?” the frog queried again. The Duchess Lizard retorted - “Only if the cygnets will be my bridesmaids”. It took the frog a whole week to find a young swan who was willing to oblige, since the rest of the swans were off learning to fly.

“Will you marry me now ?” he urged the Duchess Lizard with a loud “ribbet!”. “Perhaps,” she pondered, “But only when the sun comes out”. It was winter - unluckily - so the frog knew he would have to wait months. Meanwhile, he tried again.

“Will you marry me ?” - The Duchess’ response - “After a sip of champagne”. Well, that was easy enough (though it seemed there was no pleasing the sanctimonious Lizard - she really was so choosy and cantankerous). It costs the frog a whole week’s wages to buy a magnum of bubbly sweet and large enough to be fitting for his betrothed and they laughed as the cork popped and bubbly burst all over the park bench.

Love At First Sight

bee-3.jpg

Birds do it - bees do it - even educated fleas do it - let’s do it - let’s fall in love … and so it was in the garden of Eden as the various animals created paradise, living in harmony and finding their match. It was love at first sight between the two of them. Their eyes met and they fell hopelessly in love. The cat was the first to have a passionate embrace - he licked his lips as he spied the Tom and together they shared a saucer of milk. The oddest couple were the hares and the hounds - next to be hand in hand … Then the rhinocerous locked his horns with his mate followed by the elephant - whose tusks soon became entwined with the trunks of a Mummy Elephant. The Lion looked through the letterbox of his litterbox home - and knocking on his door was a lovely Lioness - they too soon were purring and roaring together and fell hopelessly in love. The dove fluttered his wings at the female dove … and they flew off over the trees. Butterflies fell in love … and mosquitoes matched up in pairs. Flies flew around together … and so did daddy - long legs. It seemed like eveyone was fell in love. The ladybird fell in love with a gentlemanbird … the kingfisher fell in love with a queenfisher. A big, hairy caterpillar was most amorous, indeed, about an even hairier grub. The worm wriggled and fell in love … with a very squiggling worm. Even ants got the itch and fell in love so much it made him squirm. Next the hippopotamus, started pecking on the cheek, a very prettty young rhinocerous - the first peck he’d had for weeks. It was love at sight for the bear and the hare - they bounced off happily ever after. Even the snail - usually slow - fell hopelessly in love with a slug. Their slippery kiss - went that way and this and soon they had dug a new dug. Only the snake was left all alone - but thankfully it wasn’t long before he found a match of his own - at last he felt like he belonged. He snaked through the bushes looking lost and lonely, until there under a leafy creeper or two … he found the love of his life … a sexy serpent sleeping in the side, and snoozing and snoring, curled up in a corner, his wife.
