Anita loved fajita, she ate them every day. In fact, Anita the Fajita Eater, didn’t even wait for them to get hot, she ate them cold anyway. Anita the Fajita Eater piled them high upon her plate. In fact, Anita the Fajita Eater, lost count at number eight. She packed her cupboard and her fridge, she took them on picnics and ate them on the ridge. She didn’t share them one little bit, she munched them whole and forgot about it ! She thought that she’d leave a few till later and set about counting for how many she had to cater.
Write a mathematical equation to show your working out to the following maths problems.
1. If Anita the Fajita Eater ate 3 fajitas for breakfast, lunch and dinner, how many fajitas did she eat in one week ?
2. If one fajita cost £1.25, how much did ten cost ?
3. Work out the surface area of a circular fajita eaten by Anita if it had a diameter of 15 cm and was folded in half.
4. If it took Anita 5 minutes to heat the fajita 3 degrees, how long did it take her to cook a fajita to 24 degrees Celcius ?
5. If Anita the Fajita Eater put three times as many fajitas into the fridge as she did the cupboard (which could contain 6 fajitas),
a) How many fajitas did she have in total ?
b) How many fajitas were in the fridge ?
6. One of Anita’s fajitas contained three slices of cucumber, one half of a tomato, two lettuce leaves and four onion rings. How many of each salad vegetable were in 5 fajitas ?
7. Anita the fajita eater shared 60 fajitas amongst 5 friends – how many did they each get ?
8. One of Anita’s fajitas was 3.2 cm wide – how high was a pile of 12 ?
9. Anita added 7 mls of tomato ketchup to every fajita. How long did a 500 mls jar last ?
10. Anita took 4 minutes to eat one fajita – how long did it take her to eat this amount ? Give your answer in minutes and hours.
11. Anita wanted to invite 100 friends to a party and give them two fajitas each. If one pack contained 5 fajitas, how many packs did she need ?
12. Anita the fajita eater went to the supermarket and put 300 packets of fajitas into her supermarket trolley. One plastic bag could hold 10% of these and a box could hold 0.5.
a) If she carried the 300 fajitas in plastic bags, how many did she need ?
b) If she carried her fajitas in boxes, how many did she need ?
