Action Fractions

This simple activity combines English and maths methods. Use this exercise as a way of teaching verbs in the past, present and future tense. Count the number of letters and divide the words at the following points : 1 / 2, 1 / 3, 1 / 4, 1 / 5, 1/ 6 , 1/ 8 , 1 / 9 etc. Then add a suitable ending – ed, – ing, – es etc. For example – “to come” would be divided at 1 / 4 + 3 /4 (this is the clue given by the teacher) then students add a different ending, depending whether it has happened, is happening or will happen. Example “The boy c – ame to school by bicycle”. “He is not com – ing to school today”. “He will be com – ing”.
