The Crafty Raft and The Even Craftier Fox

The animals in Jack’s beanstalk decided to have a race. They all wanted to go on holiday and get away from the ants all over the place ! The snail, of course, being a slow coach, chose a coach … the flea a bicycle, because he was often seen in a flea circus … and the bee chose a hand – glider that would suit his flapping wings. The beetle chose a VW beetle to drive and the flamingo chose an automobile that played loud music so he could flamenco as he drove. The slug took a ride on another bug and the worm just decided to squirm. They all set off when the wolf blew his whistle – one or two of the butterflies flew fast, but landed on a thistle ! The centipede, with his one hundred feet, was soon well ahead – he travelled at quite a speed. But a couple of the millipedes got stuck in the rocks on the river rapids. The race was won by the crafty fox, who bought a raft in a cardboard box.

Make a list of all the animals in Jack’s beanstalk and match them to a vehicle that they could use in the race. For example, what do you think that the octopus would travel in ? What transport would best suit the mouse and why ?
